The water prayers pilgrimages are frequent throughout the national territory, and in the regions of Maragatería, Valduerna and Cepeda is celebrated whenever necessary or every seven years this traditional parade between the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Castrotierra and the Cathedral of Astorga.
Its celebration, voted by land attorneys, is usually celebrated in the month of June. The image is accompanied by a colorful procession in which each town of the mentioned regions carries its banner or insignia of between 5 and 12 meters high, banners that have their origin in the local battles as identification of the organized troops for each town. The colors represent each town and the neighbouring and, thanks to the height, could be seen from great distances. After the Procession, the Virgin remains in the Cathedral for nine days and then returns to her sanctuary.
